Inter Milan striker Alexis Sanchez won’t be part of the Chile squad that will take on Uruguay in the 2024 World Cup qualifier.

The 34-year-old is currently training with his international teammates in his home nation.

But as La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews reports, he won’t participate in the contest against Uruguay which will take place on the night between Friday and Saturday (1:00 AM CET).

As the source explains, the veteran striker isn’t injured. However, he still needs to improve his physical condition before taking the field.

The experienced forward has recently re-joined Inter on a free transfer. He spent the previous campaign at Marseille. But despite his good performances, the Southern French club opted against renewing his stay.

Sanchez eventually made a late-summer switch to Appiano Gentile following the departure of Joaquin Correa.

However, the Chilean’s poor condition prevented him from joining Simone Inzaghi’s matchday squad against Fiorentina last weekend.

The Nerazzurri manager opted to keep the player out of the squad. It seems that Chile coach Eduardo Berizzo has adopted a similar stance.

Nonetheless, the source believes that Sanchez will try to improve his condition ahead of the next World Cup qualifier. Chile will take on Colombia next Tuesday. The Inter striker will be hoping to offer his contribution on that occasion.

Moreover, the former Barcelona and Arsenal striker will be eager to make his Inter re-debut in the Derby della Madonnina clash against AC Milan on September 16.
