Midfielder Kristjan Asllani feels that it would be his “dream” to stay at Inter Milan and fight for his place this season.

Speaking to Albanian media, via FCInterNews, the 21-year-old made clear that his ambition has always been to remain at the Nerazzurri, despite some transfer links away this summer.

Inter midfielder Asllani was the subject of a bit of transfer speculation towards the end of the transfer window.

The likes of Sassuolo and Fiorentina reportedly showed an interest in bringing in the former Empoli man.

A key reason for the transfer rumours is that Asllani has yet to really nail down a place for himself in Inter’s team.

The Albanian has not made many starts for Inter since joining last summer. And even in terms of substitute appearances, Asllani has hardly featured regularly.

Apart from a cameo from the bench against Fiorentina, Asllani has yet to feature this season.

By all indications, Asllani is well behind Hakan Calhanoglu in the pecking order.

However, as far as the player himself is concerned, he still wants to stay.

Kristjan Asllani: I Want To Stay At Inter Milan

Asllani described staying at Inter as a “dream” for him.

“You’ve already read it in Italian media, it’s true,” he said.

“Of course, a loan movie away was a possibility,” Asllani noted. “But after speaking with the club I decided to stay at Inter. That was always my big dream.”

The 21-year-old noted that “Right now Calhanoglu is ahead of me in the lineup, but it’s good to have him there.”

Looking ahead to the Milan derby next weekend, Asllani said that “Milan are a great team. It will be a great match.”

“We’re a strong team too, I’m confident that we’ll do well, and we’ll give our best,” he said of the derby.
