Bayern Munich winger Kinglsey Coman attempted to convince Benjamin Pavard to stay rather than leaving for Inter Milan.

This according to German tabloid Bild, via FCInterNews.

This summer, Pavard made the move to Inter.

The 27-year-old French international’s transfer was one of the high-profile moves in the final days before the window slammed shut.

And the transfer came after the player himself had made extremely clear that it was what he wanted.

Reports suggest that Pavard had been asking for the move away for months. He had been linked with Inter in January, though that move never materialized.

And Pavard reportedly secured a promise from previous Bayern Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic that the German champions would allow him to leave during the summer transfer window.

And the new regime at Bayern did eventually honour that promise.

However, it was with some reluctance. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel was not keen to let Pavard leave without first securing an adequate replacement, something that the Bavarians were unable to do before the transfer deadline.

But in the end, the player got his wish.

Kingsley Coman Tried To Convince Benjamin Pavard To Stay At Bayern

Reportedly, Pavard went on “strike” to try and put pressure on Bayern to complete a deal to sell him to Inter.

The Frenchman missed several days of training in the days before the transfer window closed.

And whilst there were official stories about back and stomach pain, it did look as though the 27-year-old was angling for a move away.

Reportedly, Pavard’s reasons were at least partly tactical in nature. Whilst the former Stuttgart defender has often played as an attack-minded right-back for Bayern, his desire is to exclusively play as a defender.

So Pavard move to a team where he’ll play on the right side of a back three. Potentially an ideal role for the Frenchman’s attributes.

But according to Bild, Tuchel wasn’t the only one who wanted Pavard to stay.

The German tabloid report that Bayern winger Coman also spoke with his international teammate.

The former Juventus winger argued that there was no urgency for Pavard to move away. The defender could stay the season and then make his decision next summer – when his contract with Bayern expired.

But for his part, Pavard had made his mind up.

He wanted Inter, and wasn’t going to wait any longer.
