Tomorrow’s training session will be decisive for the fitness of AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud ahead of the Milan derby against Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Rossoneri striker Giroud started for France in a World Cup qualifying match against Ireland.

However, the 36-year-old had to come off the pitch midway through the first half of the match. Inter striker Marcus Thuram replaced him, going on to score the second goal of the 2-0 win.

The Frenchman’s injury is not overly serious.

Tests suggest that Giroud has suffered a minor sprain to his ankle.

However, the problem was enough that Giroud will play no part for Les Bleus in this evening’s friendly match against Germany.

The Milan striker is aiming to recover fitness in time to start in the derby against Inter on Saturday.

Training Tomorrow To Be Decisive For Olivier Giroud Fitness Ahead Of Milan Derby Vs Inter

According to the Gazzetta, Giroud is yet to make a full return to training. But that should come soon

At the moment, the main concern is not having the former Chelsea and Arsenal striker put too much weight on his foot.

Once Giroud is back in full training, it should become more clear whether or not the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker’s ankle has gotten back to the condition where he can play on it.

The striker should be back in training tomorrow, along with the rest of his teammates. And that will give a clear indication of his fitness for the derby.

Having Giroud available would certainly be a major boost for Milan coach Stefano Pioli.

The Frenchman is Milan’s top scorer for the season after three matches. He has scored four goals from just three matches, one goal behind Inter’s Lautaro Martinez.
