Inter Milan veteran Alexis Sanchez missed Thursday’s training session. A news report reveals the reason behind his absence.

The striker was on international duty with the Chilean national team. However, the Nerazzurri were expecting him to attend today’s training session.

Inter are currently preparing for Saturday’s Derby della Madonnina clash against AC Milan. But Sanchez was nowhere to be seen.

According to Sky Sport via FcInterNews, the 34-year-old missed training due to some logistical difficulties he encountered on his return flight.

Therefore, the former Barcelona and Arsenal star will arrive at the club’s training center later than initially expected.

Sanchez is yet to make an appearance for the Nerazzurri since rejoining the club on a free transfer at the end of the summer transfer session.

His poor physical condition prevented him from joining the club’s matchday squad against Fiorentina last month.

Nevertheless, the veteran played for 90 minutes in Chile’s most recent encounter against Colombia.

While this was a step in the right direction, we shall see if his delay will hinder his chances of participating in the big Derby showdown. Inter will be hoping to have the player at their disposal by tomorrow.

Sanchez represented the Nerazzurri between 2019 and 2022. Last year, he left the club to join Olympique Marseille.

Despite a positive campaign in Ligue 1, the Southern French club opted against maintaining his services.

Sanchez eventually made his return to the Giuseppe Meazza on a free transfer.
