Mauro Icardi feels that he had a good spell at Inter Milan, having always been prolific during his time in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Icardi spoke to the official social media channel of of his current club Galatasaray, via FCInterNews, looking back on his time at Inter.

Between 2013 and 2019, Icardi made 2019 appearances for Inter. He scored a total of 124 goals during that period.

The Argentine did not hit double figures during the 2013-14 season, his first at the club.

But in every campaign after that, he managed to do so, consistently finishing the season as Inter’s top scorer.

Moreover, Inzaghi also wore the captain’s armband at Inter for a period. This ended in controversy following a feud between the striker and some of the Nerazzurri’s ultras.

Mauro Icardi Happy With Prolific Spell At Inter Milan

But what’s certain is that for all the controversy that sometimes tended to follow Icardi around, he did have a memorable spell at Inter.

And what makes the former Sampdoria striker’s scoring record with the Nerazzurri doubly impressive is the circumstances of the team around him.

Icardi did not play for an Inter team at the level of today’s. On the contrary, the Nerazzurri were stuck in midtable for long stretches.

The team never seemed to truly cohere, and Icardi played under a succession of different coaches.

But the Argentine always found the route to goal. And his goals were vital to any success that Inter did enjoy during his six seasons at the club.

“The period I spent at Inter was a great experience,” Icardi looked back.

“I scored lots of goals every season,” he continued.

“I was the captain of the team. And almost every season, I managed to get beyond the threshold of twenty goals.”

Icardi left Inter to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019.
