Roma coach Jose Mourinho feels that Inter Milan have no reason to be upset about losing out on Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the coach suggested that his team need the Belgian more than the Nerazzurri.

This summer, Lukaku’s transfer saga ended with a move to Roma, but only after a number of twists and turns.

The Belgian had seemed for all the world like he would go back to Inter. But then the Nerazzurri angrily pulled the plug on the move after finding out about his flirtations with Juventus.

But then the Bianconeri also decided not to sign Lukaku. They stcuk with striker Dusan Vlahovic instead.

Therefore, the 30-year-old was left scrambling to find a new club in the final weeks and days of the summer transfer window.

In the end, Lukaku settled on a move to the Italian capital. He signed for Roma on a one-year loan deal, containing a purchase option.

And for his part, Giallorossi coach Mourinho is happy to have the Belgian former Everton and Manchester United striker aboard.

Mourinho: No Reason For Inter To Be Too Upset About Losing Romelu Lukaku

Of Lukaku’s mindset this season, Mourinho called the 30-year-old “Happy.”

“He needs to feel loved,” the coach said of the striker who controversially left Inter.

“He arrived here and saw that the team needs someone like him.”

“At Inter they have no reason to be upset about it,” Mourinho argued. “They just won the derby 5-1, and they have an extraordinary team.”

“Today they must be happy for their former coach, who needed Romelu,” Mourinho said.

Roma had not gotten off to the best of starts in the matches before the international break this season.

However, the Giallorossi finally got their statement win with a 7-0 thrashing of Empoli. Lukaku got on the scoresheet.
