Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil believes that his team are more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
Speaking in a press conference after a narrow La Liga defeat against Los Blancos, as reported by FCInterNews, the La Real coach gave his thoughts.
Inter and La Real will meet on Wednesday in the Champions League.
The two teams will each open up their group stage campaign. The Nerazzurri do so having reached the final of last season’s edition of the competition. And La Real are back in Europe’s biggest club competition after a decade away.
Both Inter and La Real had tough matches over the weekend to prepare for Wednesday’s clash.
Inter faced city rivals AC Milan, winning the derby by an emphatic 5-1 scoreline.
Meanwhile, La Real fell to defeat against Spanish giants Real Madrid. However, Alguacil’s team only lost by a narrow 2-1 scoreline.
It was hardly a performance in which they looked out of their depth against one of the strongest teams in Europe.
Now, Alguacil will be hoping to show that La Real can also go toe-to-toe with last season’s Champions League finalists Inter. He believes that his side are more than capable of getting a result.

Of yesterday’s loss to Real Madrid, Alguacil said that “It’s not easy to cause problems for this Real Madrid side.”
“The fifteen players on the pitch for them were all of a very high level.”
He continued that “We were brave and did very well.”
“The first half mkust have been a brilliant watch for the spectator,” Alguacil added.
The La Real coach stressed that “We have clear ideas. In recent years we have been consistent and balanced.”
“And [against Real Madrid] we showed it. This team has shown that it can compete against teams like Real Madrid or Inter.”
