Young Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani could get another chance to impress this weekend against Empoli.

The 21-year-old was in the starting formation that took on Real Sociedad in Wednesday’s Champions League encounter. He replaced the injured Hakan Calhanoglu.

However, the young man failed to deliver the goods. He only lasted on the pitch for 54 minutes. Italian media gave him an under-par rating of 4.5/10.

The entire team wasn’t on song for the largest part of the match. The Nerazzurri conceded an early goal following a blunder from Alessandro Bastoni.

Yann Sommer prevented additional goals, while Lautaro Martinez eventually snatched a valuable late equalizer.

But despite his forgettable European appearance, Asllani could get the nod for the second match in a row.

According to Sky Sport via FcInter1908, the Albanian could start against Empoli in Sunday’s early Serie A kickoff at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.

This will be a special occasion for the youngster who rose through the ranks of the Tuscan club before making the transfer to Inter in 2022.

Although Hakan Calhanoglu is pushing for a return, Sky still tips Asllani to start against the Azzurri.

Elsewhere, Marcus Thuram should reclaim his starting berth alongside Lautaro Martinez upfront.

Matteo Darmian could feature as a right wingback, replacing Denzel Dumfries, while Federico Dimarco returns to the starting formation on the opposite flank.

At the back, Benjamin Pavard could make his Serie A debut, alongside Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi who could replace Bastoni.

Moreover, Davide Frattesi could finally make his full debut for the Nerazzurri in the middle of the park.
