Forward Alexis Sanchez will likely start for Inter Milan against Salernitana on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Chilean will not likely be in the starting eleven against Sassuolo this evening but that his chance should come soon enough.

Sanchez has yet to start for Inter since his return on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

The 34-year-old has, however, made a couple of appearances off the bench.

Sanchez proved to have quite the impact in his second debut for the Nerazzurri. The former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona man came on as a substitute in the Champions League against Real Sociedad, injecting life into the team as Inter secured a 1-1 draw.

And against Empoli over the weekend Sanchez came off the bench against Empoli.

This was more a matter of giving the team fresh legs and putting a shift in defensively. It was a backs-to-the-wall defensive job for Inter in the closing stages against Empoli as they protected a slender lead.

Alexis Sanchez To Start For Inter Vs Sassuolo

The long-term injury to Marko Arnautovic means that it should only be a matter of time before Sanchez starts.

The Chilean will have to carry some additional burden in terms of playing time. With Arnautovic out, the Nerazzurri have just three senior forwards available.

And Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram can hardly start every match. Not with Inter playing twice a week for the foreseeable future.

But according to the Corriere della Sera, Sanchez will not be starting against Sassuolo this evening.

It will still be Martinez and Thuram in the starting eleven leading the line. Sanchez will, in all likelihood, make an appearance from the bench however.

But against Salernitana next weekend, Sanchez should get his chance. The Chilean should finally start for Inter this season.
