Henrikh Mkhitaryan will keep his place in the Inter Milan starting eleven in this evening’s Serie A clash against Sassuolo.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the 34-year-old will continue his streak of starting every match so far this season for Inter.
So far this season, Mkhitaryan has started in every single one of Inter’s matches across all competitions.
It’s been six starts in a row for the former Roma, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund veteran.
Mkhitaryan is one of only three outfield players who Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi hasn’t rested yet. Captain Lautaro Martinez and defender Alessandro Bastoni are the other two.
The 34-year-old has been the player who provides balance to Inter’s trio.
Hence Inzaghi has seemingly been reluctant to drop the veteran out of the lineup.
There have been suggestions that this could finally be the evening for Mkhitaryan to drop out of the starting eleven and get a rest.
But according to the Gazzetta, that will have to wait at least a little while longer.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan To Start For Inter Vs Sassuolo – Davide Frattesi To Drop To The Bench
In midfield for Inter, Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu are set to start this evening.
The question therefore concerns the identity of the third player in the trio.
Davide Frattesi started against Empoli in Sunday afternoon’s 1-0 win. This was the 24-year-old’s first ever start in a Nerazzurri shirt, having previously only come off the bench.,
And this evening, Inter face Frattesi’s old team.
The Italian international join Inter from Sassuolo over the summer transfer window.
But according to the Gazzetta, Frattesi will not start against the Neroverdi.
Rather, Mkhitaryan will regain his place in the starting eleven. The 34-year-old will maintain his streak of starts to begin the season.
