Midfielder Kristjan Asllani sees playing for Inter Milan as a dream.

Speaking in the matchday programme for this evening’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo, via FCInterNews, the 21-year-old Albanian international looked back and admitted that he can still remember watching the 2010 Champions League final with his dad.

Last summer, Asllani made the move to Inter from Empoli.

This came after the midfielder had impressed with his performances for the Tuscan team in Serie A.

Asllani has not had the easiest time at Inter. He has found playing time difficult to come by, perhaps not surprising considering the fact that he is still young and relatively lacking in experience at a club where experience are high.

There was some transfer interest in Asllani during the summer transfer window.

But the 21-year-old made the decision to stay at Inter.

And according to the player himself, there are some sentimental reasons behind his decision.

Asllani admits that for him, playing for the Nerazzurri means something special.

Kristjan Asllani: Playing For Inter Milan A Dream

Asllani said that in 2021, “When my move to Inter was made official it was incredible.”:

He noted that “On that same day I also got my driver’s license, and so it was doubly emotional.”

“Obviously, joining the Nerazzurri was the realization of a dream that I had had since I was a child,” Asllani said.

The Albanian looked back, “I can remember my first time on a pitch [for Inter] well. I still watch video of that match.”

“The best feeling for me today is thinking back on what I’ve done over the years.”

“Then I look up and see myself at the San Siro, and as a fan of Inter it’s the best thing that could have possibly happened to me.”

Asllani noted that “I grew up with Inter.”

“I still remember the 2010 Champions League final,” he noted. “I was with my father in a bar and I cheered a lot.”
