Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that the result is more important than individual performance.

The Brazilian spoke to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 2-2 draw against Bologna, via FCInterNews, ruing the dropped points in spite of his own eye-catching performance.

Inter dropped points for the second time this Serie A season.

This draw against Bologna will be an especially difficult one to digest because the Nerazzurri squandered an early 2-0 lead. And because the team will not have two weeks to dwell on it, with the international break on the way.

Inter got off to a blazing start and scored twice, through a Francesco Acerbi header and Lautaro Martinez screamer.

But after that, the Nerazzurri never really controlled the match.

Riccardo Orsolini scored from the spot after Inter captain Martinez clumsy fouled Lewis Ferguson in the area. And then Joshua Zirkzee scored a very well-taken goal early on in the second half.

Wingback Augusto was one of the players Simone Inzaghi threw on to try and rescue the situation.

And there were several moments of outstanding individual play from the 24-year-old former Monza man.

But it mattered little. The Nerazzurri could not score another goal to regain their advantage.

Therefore, Inter have to settle for sharing the points with Bologna. And for his part, Augusto is none too pleased with that.

Inter Wingback Carlos Augusto Reacts To Bologna Defeat: Result Matters, Not Individual Performance

After the match, Augusto said that “I’m happy with my performance. But the most important thing is the result, which didn’t come.”

He continued that “I owe my growth to the help I get from my teammates and coaching staff.”

“But when we draw like this, an individual performance doesn’t matter.”

Asked if he felt the team lacked a bit of clarity, Augusto replied “I don’t think so.”

“This is a good group, but the fixture list is very difficult with matches piling up every three days.”

“You need to show a lot of determination to be at your best every match,” Augusto added. “Unfortunately today, the result was lacking.”

And of the international break, Augusto said that “The break is important because it also means you can take your mind off of things for a bit.”

“But we also have to be aware of the fact that there are difficult matches right away after the break,” he added.

“So we have to make sure to start strong right away.”
