With the Supercoppa Italiana rescheduled for later in January, Inter Milan will face a slightly different Serie A schedule.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet note that the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona will not be rescheduled, but that their match against Atalanta will be.

Inter are one of four teams to play in the new-look Supercoppa Italiana in January.

The Nerazzurri have won each of the last two competitions. They have seen off Juventus at the San Siro, and AC Milan in Riyadh, in one-off matches.

But the format will be different this time around.

It will instead be a four-team mini-tournament, similar to the Spanish Super Cup.

Inter and Fiorentina are in the competition as the winner and runner-up of the Coppa Italia last season respectively.

And both Napoli and Lazio will also be involved. They qualified from first and second place in last season’s Serie A table.

The matches for the competition will all take place in Saudi Arabia.

Supercoppa Italiana Dates Changes – What This Means For Inter Milan

Initially, it had looked as though the competition would be held at the start of January 2024.

This would mean that Inter and the other three teams would not play their first matches back in the new year at the same time as the rest of Serie A.

Rather, these matches would be moved to later in the month.

This meant that Inter’s matchday 19 clash with Hellas Verona has been scheduled for January 24.

However, the Supercoppa Italiana scheduling will move forward.

The competition will instead take place between January 20-27, barring approval.

The ramification for this is that Inter will face Verona on either January 6th or 7th after all. They, as well as Napoli, Lazio, and Fiorentina, will play their matchday 19 matches at the same time as the rest of Serie A.

But the Nerazzurri’s matchday 21 clash with Atalanta will be affected.

That match will take place on either January 17th or 18th. That will be a Wednesday or a Thurday.
