Former Nerazzurri defender Massimo Paganin feels that Inter Milan’s Serie A draw against Bologna showed tiredness from their match against Benfica.

Speaking to yesterday’s print edition of Bologna-based newspaper Corriere di Bologna, via FCInterNews, Paganin also had words of praise for Rossoblu coach Thiago Motta.

Inter endured another setback in their season as they dropped points at home against Bologna.

That result was all the worse considering that the Nerazzurri had led 2-0 inside fifteen minutes.

It was a strong start to the match for Inter. Simone Inzaghi’s team were not flattered by their early two-goal advantage.

But as the match progressed, they struggled to contain Bologna who pressed for the goals to turn the match around. And then once the Emilian team got some momentum behind them, the Nerazzurri were unable to wrestle back control.

It was certainly an impressive performance from Bologna.

But at the same time, there was a certain feeling that Inter were not able to cope.

The errors that the Nerazzurri made, and their inability to really dictate the tempo of proceedings, could well have been the result of the energy that the team put into the midweek Champions League win over Benfica.

The beginning of the match against Bologna had resembled the second half against the Portuguese champions.

But then as it wore on, the team simply ran out of steam a little.

For his part, Paganin attributes the result both to Bologna’s quality, and to some tiredness from Inter.

Massimo Paganin: Inter Tired Vs Bologna After UCL Match Vs Benfica

“It seemed like Inter paid for the energy that they spent in Europe,” Paganin said of the 2-2 draw.

“But Bologna played a good match and are finding ways to grow.”

He said that “Thiago Motta has been doing an excellent job for some time.”

“He makes the team play with a very precise identity,” the former defender went on.

Paganin noted that “Bologna already impressed me with their matches against Milan and Juventus. And now they’re only continuing to grow.”
