Inter Milan are eyeing up a move for West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are considering their options in midfield for the future, with one particular profile in mind.

At the moment, the Nerazzurri lack a midfielder with height and physicality.

Over the past few seasons, Roberto Gagliardini has often been the player who either Simone Inzaghi or Antonio Conte has turned to in order to beef up the central trio.

However, the 29-year-old former Atalanta man left Inter during the summer. He joined Monza on a free transfer at the end of his contract with the Nerazzurri.

Inter did not really sign a player with a similar profile to replace Gagliardini.

The likes of Davide Frattesi and Davy Klaassen arrived. Meanwhile, Stefano Sensi was reintegrated into the team following the end of a loan spell with Monza.

But all of these midfielders follow a more technical profile, rather than being particularly physically imposing player.

Inter Considering A Move For West Ham Midfielder Tomas Soucek

Therefore, Tuttosport report, Inter are keen to look for a player who can add physical presence in midfield.

Czech international Soucek would certainly fit the bill in this regard.

The 28-year-old has height and a strong aerial presence.

Moreover, Tuttosport notes, Inter could capitalize on Soucek’s contract situation in East London.

At the moment, the Czech’s contract with the Hammers runs out at the end of next June.

However, West Ham may have an option to extend Soucek’s deal by a further season unilaterally.

As Tuttosport note, Inter have come up against Soucek in the relatively recent past.

The Czech starred for Slavia Prague as they got a draw against Inter at the San Siro in the Champions League group stage in 2019. He then scored from the spot in the reverse leg.
