Wingback Federico Dimarco is one step away from extending his contract with Inter Milan until the end of June 2028.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 25-year-old will earn €3,5 million net per season on his new deal.
At the moment, Dimarco’s contract with Inter runs until the end of June 2026.
The Italian international signed his most recent extension in the fall of 2021.
But in the two or so years that have elapsed since then, Dimarco’s standing in the team has changed significantly.
When the Italian signed his most recent extension, he was not necessarily a regular starter for Inter.
At that time Dimarco was more of a utility player, with his versatility allowing him to deputize for both Ivan Perisic and Alessandro Bastoni. However, he did not make either the left-wingback or left centre-back role his own.
But last season that changed.
Dimarco stepped up following the departure of Perisic.
A string of outstanding performances from the Italian international were enough for him to put his stamp on the spot on the left flank of Inter’s starting eleven.
Dimarco did so ahead of Robin Gosens, who left in the summer. And he has remained first-choice, even despite the good form of summer arrival Carlos Augusto.
Federico Dimarco To Extend Deal With Inter Milan Until End Of June 2028
Extending Dimarco’s contract has been one of Inter’s priorities.
FCIN report that the talks have been ongoing with the Italian’s representatives Roc Nation.
Dimarco and Roc Nation have asked for wages of around €4 million net per season plus €1 million in add-ons.
Inter have offered €3.5 million net per season. This amount can rise to around €4 million net per season with the inclusion of add-ons.
And according to FCIN, that is enough. Inter have satisfied Dimarco and Roc Nation with that offer.
Therefore, the outlet anticipates, virtually all that is left now is the signatures to make Dimarco’s new deal official.
He will sign until the end of June 2028, rather than June 2027 as had initially looked likely.
