The Mayor of the Rozzano commune feels that the Inter Milan stadium plans are “downhill” but that nothing is certain yet.
Rozzano Mayor Giovanni Ferretti spoke to Radio Nerazzurra, via FCInterNews, about the stadium situation.
Over the past few months, Inter seem to have taken a big step in the direction of building a new stadium in the Rozzano area.
It has seemed increasingly clear over the past few years that previous plans to replace the San Siro together with AC Milan would be untenable. Therefore, Inter have looked for concrete alternatives.
The Nerazzurri have already presented their formal plans to build a stadium.
And given that the club have an exclusive right to conduct a feasibility study, the conditions are certainly there.
At the moment, the Rozzano option seems to be the most plausible one for Inter’s new stadium. Certainly moreso than the prior plans to build in place of the San Siro.
But that’s hardly to say that anything is final or set in stone just yet.
Rozzanno Mayor Comments On Inter Stadium Plans
“As a great Inter coach who won us the title said,” Ferretti said referring to Giovanni Trappatoni, “‘Don’t say cat until you have it in the bag.'”
He continued that “It seems like the road is downhill. However, I[m still convinced that Milano have not completely dropped out.”
“I’m reporting what they told us during the meeting,” Ferretti went on. “It will be a 70,000 seat facility, with an adjoining sports complex that can be used all week long.”
He explained that there will be “Shops, museums, restaurants, fields that can be used for padel, five-a-side football and beach volleyball.”
“They didn’t talk about shopping centres,” he went on.
“But rather more about sports and commercial facilities.”
“If that were to be the area, it would be one kilometer from Fiordaliso and the Carrefour in Assago.”
