France international defender Benjamin Pavard believes that he has really been finding his form since joining Inter Milan in the summer.
The 27-year-old spoke to French news outlet TF1, via FCInterNews, giving his thoughts on how things have gone for him since his move to the Nerazzurri from Bayern Munich.
Pavard made the move to Inter from Bayern during the summer window.
The Frenchman only completed the switch during the last couple days of the window.
But the links had been there for some time.
In fact, Pavard had been on Inter’s radar as early as January of this year.
Inter had scouted Pavard as a perfect player to take the place of Milan Skriniar following the Slovakian’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
And early signs from the Frenchman’s time at the club point to why that is the case. Pavard has looked right at home playing on the right of the Nerazzurri back three.
And now Pavard is starting to transform that early-season club form to his national team.
The Frenchman got on the scoresheet twice for Les Bleus yesterday in a friendly win over Scotland.
Benjamin Pavard: Finding Form Since Joining Inter Milan
“I thank coach Didier Deschamps for the confidence he placed in me to play as a centre-back after playing right-back,” Pavard said.
“I think everyone saw that centre-back is is my real position,” the 27-year-old Nerazzurri defender made clear.
“And then we’ll see. But today I’m very happy.”
Pavard made clear that “I didn’t feel any pressure.”
“If anything it’s the journalists who think that they’re putting pressure on me.”
“But I’m sure of myself,” the Frenchman said. “Since I’ve been at Inter, I’ve been putting together a string of good performances.”
“I feel really good in this position and that can be seen defensively, but also in attack,” he added. =
