Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi praises his club captain Lautaro Martinez for his great sense of belonging.
On the eve of the Serie A clash against Torino, the 47-year-old didn’t hold a pre-match press conference. Nevertheless, he answered questions from Inter TV journalists.
The Nerazzurri will take on the Granata at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Saturday evening.
Inzaghi admits that preparing for matches after the international break is never easy, especially with South American players returning late and enduring lengthy flights.
“After the break, preparing for the matches is certainly not easy. I only had the players at my disposal on Wednesday. The South Americans returned yesterday,” said the former Lazio manager via FcInterNews.
“We know that we will meet an excellent team with a coach who is in his third year. Tomorrow, we will need an excellent Inter.”
Although both teams heavily rely on wingbacks, Inzaghi expects the decisive battle to take place in the middle of the park.
“The width will be important, but the sides play with wingbacks. But both teams also have quality in the middle of the pitch.
“The match will not only be played on the flanks, but it will be an intense challenge in the middle of the pitch.”
While Lautaro Martinez has been delivering the goods upfront, the manager calls for the defenders and midfielders to start netting more goals.
“We are scoring with different players, but we know that we can still improve in this regard. We are trying to train as hard as we can.
“We also want more goals from our defenders when they have the chance. The same goes for the midfielders, the wingbacks and obviously the attackers.”
“We are working a lot on the defensive organization. We know we are doing well, but we still have to improve.
“In our last match against Bologna, we conceded two clearly avoidable goals. We have to improve every day. Everyone must participate in the defensive phase.”

“Furthermore, he has extraordinary teammates who always try to support him.”
Finally, the Italian tactician charges up his troops for what will be a tough run of fixtures.
“We know that a series of important and difficult matches await us. The boys know that I will need all of them. We must have great concentration and a great desire to work hard.”
