Former Manchester United and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could start for Inter Milan against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League tomorrow.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. The broadcaster also reports that there is no chance of Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez being rested.

Chilean international Sanchez was an unused substitute in Inter’s Serie A win over Torino on Saturday evening.

The 34-year-old had played in both of his national team’s matches during the break. Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi opted to rest him.

It was Davy Klaassen who replaced Martinez when the Argentine came off late in the match.

However, according to Sky, the wait to see Sanchez back on the pitch in an Inter shirt may not be long.

Indeed, the broadcaster reports, Inzaghi is seriously considering starting the Chilean tomorrow.

Alexis Sanchez Could Start For Inter Vs Red Bull Salzburg In Champions League

According to Sky, there is no chance that Inter captain Martinez won’t start tomorrow.

Inzaghi will definitely continue to back his captain in the starting eleven.

Therefore, if Sanchez were to start against Salzburg, the player to make way in the starting eleven would be Marcus Thuram.

The Frenchman started against Torino over the weekend. He has started every one of Inter’s league matches so far.

The one match in which Thuram has gotten a rest, however, came in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old did not start against Real Sociedad in Inter’s group stage opener. Marko Arnautovic was the player to start alongside Martinez in that match.

But with Arnautovic still absent through injury, Sanchez would be the only attacking option to replace Thuram.

The former Barcelona and Udinese forward’s fitness is not in any doubt.

Therefore, particularly having rested Sanchez against Torino, Sky report that Inzaghi is considering starting the Chilean tomorrow.
