Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan doesn’t attribute his current form to a “second youth.”

The Armenian former Arsenal and Roma veteran spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, before tomorrow’s match against Red Bull Salzburg. He attributed his recent form to nothing more than taking care of himself to stay fit.

Over the past season and change, Mkhitaryan has put in a long series of excellent performances.

The 34-year-old joined Inter from Roma on a free transfer last summer. And he virtually instantly cemented a place for himself in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven.

Mkhitaryan’s experience and understanding of the game have certainly been important.

But the Armenian has brought far more than just a veteran head.

On the contrary, many have observed that the former Giallorossi midfielder has brought an incredible energy considering his age.

But for his part, Mkhitaryan does not feel that there is any “second youth.” He has just been keeping himself going at the highest level, as he always has been.

Asked whether this is a “second youth” for him, Mkhitaryan replied “No. This is still my first.”

“I’m just doing everything to stay fit, help my teammates and win matches.”

“Hopefully we can achieve our goals, and I’m everything I can to help,” the former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund man said.

Of tomorrow’s match against Salzburg, Mkhitaryan said that winning would be “Fundamentally important.”

“We’re playing at home in front of our fans,” he noted.

“It’s a good opportunity to win and get to seven points in the group, along with Real Sociedad if they win.”

“It won’t be easy but we have to concentrate on our game,” he said. “Then after the match we’ll talk.”

And as far as whether he’d like to stay at Inter past this season, Mkhitaryan said “Yeah, a lot.”

“I’ll do my part, and then we’ll see what happens as far as an agreement with the club,” he added.
