Midfielder Davide Frattesi will come into the Inter Milan starting eleven to face Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper also predicts changes on both flanks, and a start for forward Alexis Sanchez.

Frattesi has played regularly for Inter this season following his arrival from Sassuolo during the summer transfer window.

However, the majority of the 24-year-old’s appearances have been from the bench rather than from the start.

Part of the reason for this has been the difficulty in displacing any member of the first-choice trio from the starting eleven. All of Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu have certainly established their places.

And additionally, Frattesi has had one or two fitness problems.

The Italian international missed some matches before the international break.

And Nerazzurrui coach Simone Inzaghi has noted that when Frattesi has played, he hasn’t always been ready to play more than half an hour or so.

But against Salzburg, the ex-Neroverdi midfielder will get his chance to start.

The Gazzetta report that Frattesi will take the place of Barella in the starting eleven.

Meanwhile, on the flanks both wingbacks will switch up. Carlos Augusto will replace Federico Dimarco on the left, and Denzel Dumfries will come in for Matteo Darmian on the right.

Lastly, the Gazzetta report, Alexis Sanchez will get a start in attack.

The Chilean will come in for Marcus Thuram. And Inter captain Lautaro Martinez will keep his place in the strike pairing up front.

The Gazzetta’s complete predicted starting eleven for the group stage match is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto; Sanchez, Lautaro.
