Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has little interest in answering questions about former Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Turkish international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the team beat Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League group stage. And he was a lot more interested in talking about the match than in Lukaku.

By now, the story of Lukaku’s fallout with Inter is well-known.

Whilst some of the details of the situation remain gossip, what is clear is that the relationship between the Belgian club and the club that he spent a total of three seasons at soured during the summer transfer window.

Reportedly, Inter’s club directors were furious with Lukaku’s antics.

And the fans certainly have not reacted well. The 30-year-old Chelsea-owned striker, currently on loan at Roma, is expected to get a furious reception at the San Siro next Sunday.

Reports have suggested that Lukaku also alienated his former Inter teammates with his behaviour.

But for his part, Nerazzurri midfielder Calhanoglu is not feeding that sort of gossip.

Hakan Calhanoglu Dodges Romelu Lukaku Questions: “No Comment”

Asked about the prospective negative reception for Lukaku at the San Siro next weekend, Calhanoglu replied that “I don’t want to comment.”

“Everyone makes their own choices,” he continued.

“We just have to concentrate on our work, we’re top of the table and we want to stay there.”

And regarding Inter’s victory over Salzburg this evening, Calhanoglu was much happier to share his thoughts.

The 29-year-old former AC Milan midfielder scored the winner from the penalty spot.

“We know it wasn’t easy,” Calhanoglu said of beating the Austrian champions.

“They’re a young team with a lot of running and enthusiasm,” he noted.

“We played them in a friendly, we know how they play,” Calhanoglu said of Salzburg.

“It was important to win, we’re top of the group now. Now we have to play two away matches, which we know won’t be easy. It was an important win.”
