Young midfielder Kristjan Asllani is happy with the faith that Inter Milan have put in him.

The 21-year-old Albanian international gave his thoughts to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 Serie A win over Roma, via FCInterNews.

Asllani is now in his second season as an Inter player.

The Albanian joined the Nerazzurri from Empoli last summer.

In his first campaign in an Inter shirt, Asllani found playing time fairly difficult to come by. Particularly in terms of starting matches.

And this time around, it’s not as though Asllani has been thrust straight into the starting eleven.

However, the 21-year-old has still had his opportunities.

And on a number of occasions, Asllani has made the most of them.

The Albanian has managed to change matches from the bench. This evening against Roma was one example of this.

Asllani was the player who found Federico Dimarco with a pinpoint long diagonal switch of play which allowed the Italian international to play the assist for Marcus Thuram’s winning goal.

Kristjan Asllani: Inter Putting Their Faith In Me

Asllani remarked after this evening’s match that “I like changing the match.”

He went on that “I saw Dimarco who was free in space, and then he controlled the ball very well.”

Of his defending, Asllani said that “In the last season and a half I’ve worked on it a lot,”

“I feel that I’ve improved, but there’s still room for more improvement like [not closing down Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante fast enough].”

“I thought Frattesi was there, but maybe I should have stepped out because I was closer.”

In terms of his opportunities, Asllani said that “It’s normal that everyone wants to play.”

“But we have a very strong midfield here.”

“There was half a rumour,” the 21-year-old said of the prospect of his going out on loan.

“But I spoke with the club, who wanted to keep me and put their faith in me,” he noted.
