Striker Marcus Thuram feels that Inter Milan winning is ultimately more important the his getting on the scoresheet.

The Frenchman was the Nerazzurri’s match-winning hero against Roma this evening. He reacted to the match speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews.

Thuram has now scored four goals in Serie A since joining on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach during the summer.

The 26-year-old has also scored in the Champions League against Benfica.

Moreover, goals are far from the only thing that Thuram provides for the Nerazzurri. The Frenchman has also made five assists so far since his summer move.

And Thuram has often scored important goals.

It was the Frenchman who scored the only goal in wins against both Benfica and Roma.

And Thuram also opened the scoring in wins over the likes of Fiorentina and Torino.

But from his perspective, it is not really his individual statistics that matter. Thuram’s focus is on Inter as a whole.

Marcus Thuram: Inter Winning The Most Important Thing

After his match-winner against Roma, Thuram remarked that “As with against Benfica or Torino, it’s always a pleasure to score a goal at home, in front of the fans.”

“Every match at San Siro is special,” he continued,

“I’m very happy to score here,” the striker said.

“I came here. I worked hard, and I spoke with my teammates,” the Frenchman continued.

“I score and assist goals, but the important thing is that the team wins.”

“Right now the team is winning,” he added. “So I’m happy.”

And of the fact that he was the decisive player on an evening when the focus had all seemed to be on striker Romelu Lukaku, Thuram had little to say.

“I don’t focus on those things,” the 26-year-old said. “We wanted the three points and we got them. I’m happy.”

As for words exchanged between he and Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante, Thuram remarked that “Things that happen on the pitch stay on the pitch. Now we’re off the pitch.”
