Fabrizio Biasin believes that the role of striker was the promise that allowed Inter Milan to sign striker Marcus Thuram on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

The journalist spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, explaining why the Frenchman arrived.

Thuram joined Inter on a free transfer after his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expired.

Therefore, the 26-year-old had his choice of clubs to join.

There was no need for Thuram to rely on his previous club to agree on a fee or terms with a new club. It was entirely up to the player.

And there was no lack of suitors for Thuram. That is hardly surprising considering that the Frenchman was a player who’d played in the World Cup final in December, and could arrive without a transfer fee attached.

And in the end, it was Inter who convinced Thuram to join.

Biasin On How Inter Convinced Marcus Thuram To Join This Summer

So far Thuram has certainly lived up to the hype at Inter.

The former Gladbach striker has managed to score four goals and assist a further five.

Moreover, the goals that Thuram has scored have all been very important ones.

And beyond the statistics, the Frenchman’s performances have seen him make a major impact.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will be feeling that they scored a major coup by winning the race for Thuram’s signature without having to part with a single cent in the form of a transfer fee.

Biasin said that “Eleven games are not enough to say that Thuram is better than Lukaku.”

“On the one hand there’s a player who chose to leave Inter because in his head the coach and team didn’t let him perform at his best,” he continued. “On the other a player who zero could have chosen PSG, Milan…”

“And he firmly chose to go to Inter because they had been courting him for some time. And because Ausilio promised to make him a first striker.”

“Now, how much money would he be worth?” Biasin posed.
