Inter Milan striker Marko Arnautovic and wingback Juan Cuadrado are hoping to return from their respective injuries against Red Bull Salzburg next week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908. The newspaper report that both will miss next weekend’s match against Atalanta.

Striker Arnautovic has been out since Inter’s Serie A match against Empoli in September.

The 34-year-old picked up a thigh strain in that match. Whilst the recovery timeline has not been entirely clear, it always looked as though he would be out until some time in November.

The initial prognosis was for Arnautovic to return against Juventus late in the month.

But then it has started to look as though the Austrian former West Ham United and Stoke City striker could be back on the pitch a few weeks earlier than that.

Meanwhile, Cuadrado has been out with tendinitis.

Like Arnautovic, the Colombian missed Sunday’s match against Roma.

Cuadrado has not been part of a matchday squad since the return from the September international break.

The former Chelsea, Juventus, and Fiorentina veteran’s injury is not overly serious. But risks will not be taken.

Marko Arnautovic & Juan Cuadrado To Miss Atalanta Clash – Aiming To Be Back For Salzburg

With both Arnautovic and Cuadrado, Inter will not rush the veteran duo back.

The feeling is that there is plenty of room for both players to take ample time in recovering.

That way, the Nerazzurri can recover the two players at their best. And moreover, there would naturally be much less risk of reinjury in that case.

Furthermore, Inter have coped fine in the duo’s absence.

According to the Gazzetta, it is basically out of the question that either Arnautovic or Cuadrado will be back in time to face Atalanta on Saturday.

However, they are aiming for Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.
