Piotr Zielinski would like to renew his contract with Napoli while Inter Milan continue to monitor the situation from afar.

This is according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla who offered his insights on the developing situation.

This morning, a news report in the Italian media claimed that the Nerazzuri and Juventus are looking to poach the Polish midfielder who’s currently running on an expiring contract.

However, Pedulla believes that Zielinski’s priority remains to find an agreement with his current employers over a contract renewal.

“Piotr Zielinski’s contract is expiring and his priority is to stay at Napoli,” revealed Pedulla on his website via FcInter1908.

“Of course, we are about to enter dangerous territory for the club.

“Could something happen in January? The Saudi Arabian suitors could return, but Zielinski’s will is always to wait for a proposal from De Laurentiis.”

Inter Milan Are Cautiously Observing The Situation Between Napoli And Piotr Zielinski

Moreover, the journalist believes Inter want to avoid a debacle similar to Dries Mertens’ in the past. He also insists that Juventus are yet to enter the race.

“Zielinski has been linked to Inter and Juve for next summer, but there is a big difference.

“Inter really like Piotr on a free transfer deal, but the Nerazzurri don’t want to repeat the Mertens affair.

“In short, the Belgian seemed on the verge of landing in Milan but then decided to renew with Napoli.

“Therefore, Inter want to stay on the sidelines and try to understand Zielinski’s priority. They will only enter the field if he doesn’t renew.

“As for Juve, there are no trajectories at the moment. The Pole is not – at least today – a candidate on the shopping list for next summer”.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined Napoli in the summer of 2016 following a stint at Udinese.
