Wingbacks Carlos Augusto and Matteo Darmian could start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A match against Atalanta.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will likely be aiming to start what he sees as his strongest lineup this evening.

The Nerazzurri have had almost a full week to rest since last weekend’s win over Roma.

Therefore, it it not very likely that squad rotation will be foremost among Inzaghi’s concerns.

Rather, the 47-year-old will simply aim to select the team with the best chance of taking three points.

That is particularly the case given the difficulty of this evening’s fixture.

Inter travel to Bergamo to take on an Atalanta team who are currently fourth in the table. That is certainly no fluke, as La Dea have been one of Serie A’s form teams.

Atalanta have yet to concede a goal at home in the league this season.

Therefore, Inzaghi will know how tough it will be to take three points and ensure that Inter maintain their lead at the top of the Serie A table over Juventus and AC Milan.

Augusto & Darmian Could Start For Inter Vs Atalanta

In most positions, Inter coach Inzaghi knows exactly who is starting this evening.

For example, in attack there are absolutely no doubts. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will be the pair to lead the line at the Gewiss Arena.

But according to the Corriere, there are two positions in which Inzaghi has one or two doubts.

Both of these are in wide areas.

It would be fair to characterize Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries as first-choice for Inter this season at left- and right-wingback respectively.

But there is no guarantee that Inzaghi will go for them.

Augusto and Darmian are players who offer a different balance.

And according to the Corriere, either or both could still start this evening.
