Udinese coach Gabriele Cioffi downplays transfer talks linking Lazar Samardzic with Inter Milan, saying the player’s current form is his only concern.

The 48-year-old has returned for a second stint at the club. The Zebrette decided to sack Andrea Sottil who failed to collect a single win in the first nine rounds of the season.

The former Udinese manager registered a whopping six draws and three defeats.

However, the team’s results are yet to improve under the guidance of Cioffi who had to settle for the club’s seventh draw in his first Serie A outing.

Moreover, Udinese are out of the Coppa Italia after losing to Cagliari last Wednesday.

Nevertheless, the new manager is eager to turn the tide in his favor. Cioffi is tuning for his key players to resurrect this campaign and chief among them is Samardzic.

The 21-year-old was on the cusp of joining Inter Milan in the summer. But as we all know, the deal faltered at the eleventh hour.

However, an emerging report on Friday claims that the Nerazzurri have revived their interest in the Serbian international.

Udinese Manager Gabriele Cioffi Makes It Clear He Isn’t Interested In The Future Of Lazar Samardzic

But at this point, Cioffi made it clear that the player’s long-term future is not his concern. On the contrary, the manager is exclusively focused on his team’s current results.

“I’m not concerned with the transfer market,” said the former Verona manager in his pre-match interview ahead of his team’s encounter against Milan via FcInter1908.

“If Samardzic leaves, stays or becomes a Udinese icon, I’m not interested. I only care about what Samardzic does these days.

“Tomorrow, if he plays for the team, he has to do what everyone else does. He has to be strong with the ball and even stronger without it.

“Having said this, he has all the means to be a driving force. If he doesn’t do so, the competition is not lacking.”
