Inter Milan coach has given an explanation as to why Alessandro Bastoni did not play in yesterday’s Serie A win over Atalanta.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach described the Frenchman’s absence as a “technical choice.”

One player who was conspicuously absent from yesterday’s match was Bastoni.

The 24-year-old was not in the starting eleven. Rather, it was Francesco Acerbi who shifted over to the left of the back three. Stefan de Vrij started in the middle.

When Benjamin Pavard came off with an injury, it was Matteo Darmian who replaced the Frenchman.

Bastoni also did not come onto the pitch as a substitute.

The Italian international had started in Inter’s previous two matches against the likes of Red Bull Salzburg and Roma. But not yesterday.

That may have raised one or two eyebrows considering the 24-year-old’s importance to Inter.

And it could have suggested an injury, or some other problem. But according to Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi, there was nothing of the sort.

Simone Inzaghi Explains That Alessandro Bastoni Not Playing Vs Atalanta A “Technical Choice”

Inzaghi called Bastoni’s absence a “Technical choice.”

“I think the other defenders did well,” the coach continued.

Inzaghi noted that “Alessandro had done well against Salzburg and Roma.”

“I had a lot of players to choose from,” the coach said. “Including Bisseck, who’s improving a lot.”

“Now let’s keep our fingers crossed for Pavard,” he added.

Inzaghi also gave an update on the injury to defender Pavard. “We’ll have to wait,” he said.

“There was something,” he warned. “A movement of the kneecap, which came out and then went back in.”

“The player was happy with the victory,” the coach said of former Bayern Munich defender Pavard.

“”e didn’t feel much pain, but there’s a bit of concern. We’ll understand better in the next few days” .
