Claudio Ranieri is very happy with the performance that Inter Milan-owned midfielder Gaetano Oristanio put in for Cagliari against Genoa.

Speaking in a press conference after the Rossoblu’s Serie A win yesterday evening, as reported by FCInterNews, Ranieri praised the 21-year-old’s sacrifice and work ethic in the match.

Inter-owned midfielder Oristanio has enjoyed a solid start to the season with Cagliari. The 21-year-old has managed to score and assist one goal each already this campaign.

But more than that, he has found ways to fit into the team. Making the step up to Serie A was always going to be tough for Oristanio.

Especially since Italian youth team international had “only” played in the Netherlands for two seasons on loan from the Nerazzurri at Volendam.

But he has also proven that he’s up to the rigours of life in the Italian top flight. Subsequently, Oristanio has become a regular in the Cagliari starting eleven under veteran coach Ranier.

Clearly, the former Nerazzurri, Chelsea, Juventus, and Leicester City boss sees something in the Inter-owned attacking midfielder.

Therefore, Oristanio’s creativity and technical ability are certainly part of the reason for that. But that’s not all it is.

As the coach highlighted after yesterday’s match, Oristanio also contributes in other ways.

Claudio Ranieri Hails Gaetano Oristanio Performance For Cagliari

“Oristanio had to sacrifice a lot, and he did very well,” said Cagliari coach Ranieri after the match.

He added that “Today I have to mention Oristanio. Today he did very well to provide the assist for Viola. He was less selfish today.”

Cagliari grabbed their second win of the season against Genoa yesterday. After a very tough start to life in Serie A, the Sardinians have now won two matches in a row.

This was enough to take Ranieri’s team out of the relegation places in the league table.
