Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard will not be able to return to training for 3-4 weeks.

The Nerazzurri confirm in an official announcement that medical tests have determined the amount of time that the Frenchman will need to wear a knee brace for.

Everyone around the world of Inter will have held their breath when defender Pavard went down holding his knee during the first half of Saturday’s Serie A match at the Gewiss Arena.

The potential for the Frenchman to be out for a lengthy spell was certainly clear to all in the stadium.

Initially things did not look good at all. Pavard’s cries of pain indicated a potentially serious issue.

Then, things calmed down a bit. The Frenchman seemed in much better spirits after the Nerazzurri medical team looked at him.

And Pavard even ran onto the pitch to celebrate Inter’s opening goal.

This even in spite of the fact that the defender was wearing a knee brace on the bench.

So the signs were mixed. But there would still be plenty of reason to worry, and the certainty that Pavard will be on the sidelines for at least a little while.

Inter Defender Benjamin Pavard To Wear Knee Brace For 3-4 Months

There is no question that Pavard suffered a significant contusion to his left knee. The club confirm that there are after-effects from a dislocation of the knee.

Therefore, he will need some recovery time, unquestionably.

But given that there has not been a rupture to the ligament, the Frenchman will not be out for months upon months.

It does not look as though surgery will be necessary.

This is a positive sign in terms of the timeline for Pavard’s recovery.

But Pavard will still need to wear a knee brace for 3-4 weeks, the club confirm. Then he can return to training and start his rehabilitation work.

After that, it is not certain how much longer Pavard will need to be out before he can return to the pitch.
