Inter Milan’s versatile defender Matteo Darmian earned the plaudits for his positive showing against RB Salzburg on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old has often featured as part of the back three this year. But last night, he started as a right wingback, replacing Denzel Dumfries.

The Nerazzurri beat their Austrian hosts with a solitary goal to book their place in the Champions League knockout stages with two matchdays to spare.

According to Tuttosport va FcInterNews, Darmian was one of the best performers for the Italian club last night.

The former Manchester United player earned a rating of 7/10 following a solid display.

Experienced goalkeeper Yann Sommer received a note of 6.5/10 after collecting another clean sheet.

As for the starting defensive trio of Yann Bisseck, Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, they all earned 6/10. Substitute Stefan de Vrij fared slightly better so he gets 6.5/10.

On the other hand, the midfielders received relatively low notes. Hakan Calhanoglu was the worst with a grade of 5/10. His teammates Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan each got 5.5/10.

Nevertheless, their substitutes Kristjan Asllani (6.5) and Nicolo Barella (7) proved to be upgrades.

In attack, Alexis Sanchez was only able to collect a rating of 6/10 while his striking partner Marcus Thuram earned 7/10. As the source notes, the Frenchman was able to cause havoc with his pacey runs.

Nevertheless, it was club captain Lautaro Martinez who earned the Man of the Match honors following an impressive cameo that saw him score the winner from the spot.
