Inter Milan are considering going back in to sign Lille and Canada wingback Tajon Buichanan next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the 24-year-old would be one of the Nerazzurri’s main targets to replace Juan Cuadrado.

Canadian international Buchanan is by all accounts a player who has been on Inter’s radar for some time.

The Club Brugge man has marked himself out as having an ideal profile to play the wingback role in Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi’s system.

Inter have scouted Buchanan at both club and international level. This included some standout performances at last winter’s World Cup in Qatar.

And reports in the spring suggested that the Nerazzurri were making a major attempt to sign the Canadian.

In the end those came to nothing. The 24-year-old stayed at Brugge.

However, that does not mean that Inter have lost interest in signing Buchanan – far from it.

Inter Could Reignite Tajon Buchanan Pursuit To Replace Juan Cuadrado

In the end, Inter decided to sign Juan Cuadrado on a free transfer in the summer to reinforce at right-wingback.

The former Juventus, Chelsea, and Fiorentina veteran replaced Raoul Bellanova on the flank.

That was more of a stopgap solution without a transfer fee for the Nerazzurri.

But so far, Cuadrado has not exactly worked out as a signing. The reason for this has been the Colombian’s persistent injury and fitness problems.

Therefore, it looks fairly likely that Inter will try and sign a new player to reinforce on the right flank soon.

And according to Tuttosport, the club’s main idea would be to return to a player they’ve already targeted in the past.

The Nerazzurri are still big admirers of Buchanan.

And according to Tuttosport, Brugge value the Canadian at around €10 million. Therefore, if Inter could secure the player’s services for a fee in that region, they could move.
