Juventus coach Max Alleghri feels that Inter Milan are the favourites to win the Serie A title based on the work they’ve done building their squad.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his team’s 2-1 Serie A win over Cagliari, via FCInterNews, the Bianconeri coach gave his thoughts on the race for the Scudetto.

Juventus went top of the Serie A table with their win over Cagliari earlier this evening.

It was not the easiest of wins for the Bianconeri. Playing in front of their fans at the Allianz Stadium, Allegri’s team saw their run of six straight clean sheets come to an end.

But as they have made a real habit of doing over the last month and change, Juventus got the job done.

And this was enough to see the Bianconeri temporarily go one point ahead of Inter.

The Nerazzurri, meanwhile, will have the chance to restore their two-point advantage at the top tomorrow evening.

Inter face Frosinone at the San Siro in their last match before the international break.

AC Milan, on the other hand, dropped points away to Lecce.

One thing that is certain is that Inter and Juventus will go into the upcoming international break as the top two teams in the table.

The pair will not be separated by more than a point or two. And the likes of Milan and Napoli will be a few points behind both of them.

Therefore, many have suggested that Inter and Juventus are in a head-to-head title race in the Italian top flight.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri meet just after the international break. The Derby d’Italia is both team’s first match back later this month.

Juventus Coach Max Allegri Names Inter As Serie A Title Favourites

With this situation being what it is, there is an increasing sense that Inter and Juventus could go the distance in the Serie A title chase.

That is certainly all the more the case given the longstanding rivalry between the two clubs.

For Inter, winning the title would be vindicating considering the disappointment of the last two seasons.

And for Juventus, there is a sense of a real opportunity to put the disappointment of last campaign behind them.

Allegri looked ahead to the Derby d’Italia. “It’s not just a head-to-head match at the top,” he noted. “It’s Juventus against Inter.”

“I don’t think anyone expected that we’d stay two points behind Inter at the start of the season,” he added. “The guys deserve a lot of credit.”

Allegri gave the view that “Inter are favourites for the Scudetto.”

“They’ve been building towards it over the past few years,” he added.

As far as whether Inter or Juventus are favourites, Allegri said that “In a one-off match, I don’t know.”

“But as far as for winning the Serie A title, it’s Inter,” he added.

“Over the past five years, they’ve built towards it. And we’re seeing that this season as well.”
