Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta believes that Juventus are the favourites to win the Serie A title.
The Nerazzurri executive spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of this evening’s match against Frosinone, via FCInterNews. He identified the Bianconeri’s lack of European football as a key factor.
One thing that’s certain is that Inter and Juventus will head into the international break in the top two positions in the Serie A table.
There were not results this weekend that could have changed that fact.
And of course, the fact that Napoli and AC Milan both dropped points in surprise results further affirms that the two teams at the top seem to be in a league of their own.
The Bianconeri are top of the table after beating Frosinone yesterday. They are one point ahead of Inter.
The Nerazzurri could draw level in top spot if they draw this evening.
And a victory over Frosinone would mean that Inter would regain their two-point buffer at the top.
Moreover, Inter and Juventus meet immediately after the November international break.
The Derby d’Italia is always a fixture that needs no introduction. But the fact that it will pit the two teams who are so closely bunched at the top of the table will only raise the stakes.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: Juventus Favourites For Serie A Table
Bianconeri coach Max Allegri named Inter as favourites for the Serie A title yesterday.
But Nerazzurri CEO Marotta does not agree with Allegri.
As far as factors that play in the Bianconeri’s favour, Marotta noted that “There’s a continuity to their project.”
He went on that “Napoli are struggling. But if they change coaches, they could be a problem for us.”
Marotta argued that “For me, Juve are the favourites because they can prepare better during the week.”
‘But that shouldn’t be an excuse for us. It has to motivate us to make it a great title race right up until the end.”
And as far as a possible contract extension for Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, Marotta said that “We can talk about a new contract calmly.”
“The thing that’s fundamental is that both parties want to continue on together,” he added.
