Inter Milan want to extend the contract of wingback Denzel Dumfries until the end of June 2027.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri consider the former PSV man to be worth at least €50 million.

Dumfries has been a player who has endured some ups and downs at Inter.

The Dutchman arrived in the summer of 2021. And he did so with big boots to fill, as Inter signed him to replace Achraf Hakimi following the Moroccan’s big money to Paris Saint-Germain.

After an initial settling-in period, Dumfries became a regular starter during his first season at the San Siro, the 2021-22 campaign.

Then last season, Dumfries continued to hold down his role.

There have been some periods of inconsistency for Dumfries.

And the Dutchman’s value has seemingly fluctuated during his time at the club.

For example, after starring for the Netherlands at the World Cup last winter, the prospect was there of a big money move.

Then, some less-than-ideal form over the second half of the campaign saw those links quiet down.

Inter Want To Lock Down €50M Rated Denzel Dumfries With A New Contract

But at the start of this season, Dumfries has once again proven his worth to Inter.

The 27-year-old has been decisive on numerous occasions in both Serie A and the Champions League.

Whether scoring or assisting goals, from the start or from the bench, Dumfries has been a real weapon in the right-wingback role.

Therefore, the Dutchman is hardly a player who Inter are keen to sell.

Dumfries has settled in and become a fixture. Inter are happy to keep a player who fully understands the tactical system that the team plays with.

But if Inter were to sell the Dutchman – and the interest from the Premier League has hardly disappeared altogether – they would want a fee of at least €50 million.

And in the meantime, Inter want to extend Dumfries’s contract.

The 27-year-old’s current deal runs until the end of June 2025. That is the contract which he first signed when he arrived from PSV.

But Inter want to tack another two years onto that deal.

The club are actively working to hand Dumfries a contract extension, including a pay raise.
