Former Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni feels Inter Milan are the stronger side, but coach Max Allegri is a major factor for Juventus.

The former striker spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

It is certainly still too early to say decisively that the Serie A title race will be between Inter and Juventus.

But the weekend’s results have certainly reinforced that impression.

All of AC Milan, Napoli, Atalanta, Lazio, and Roma dropped points. On the other hand, each of the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri got the job done.

This means that the two teams at the top have a bigger lead than they have at any point in the season.

Meanwhile, the gap between Inter and Juventus is small.

The Nerazzurri have a two-point buffer on their Derby d’Italia rivals. But the fact that the two teams meet just after the break, mean that the Bianconeri have the chance to overtake them right away.

Luca Toni: Inter Stronger, But Allegri “Working Miracles” at Juventus

Former Bianconeri and Fiorentina striker Toni gave his thoughts on the developing title race.

“Inter are the stronger side, at least on paper,” the 2006 World Cup winner said.

“Allegri’s football may be good or bad, depending on one’s tastes,” he continued.

“But so far he is managing to work miracles at Juventus.

Toni also had praise for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

“Inzaghi has underwent exponential growth in recent years,” the former striker said. “He’s taken his knocks, and he stood up to them to reach the Champions League final.”

“His Inter are strong and aware of their quality,” Toni said.

“But if Juve triumphs, Allegri can start to put the fear into the Nerazzurri.”

And as far as whether he expects Inter captain Lautaro Martinez to finish as the top scorer in Serie A, Toni said that “There’s still a long way to go. But we can say that he’s set the tone.”

“What’s most impressive about Lautaro, beyond his goals , is his leadership.”

“He’s a driving force,” Toni said of thew Nerazzurri captain. “And what a positive surprise Thuram has been.”
