Inter Milan are still keeping tabs on Porto star Mehdi Taremi as they ponder attacking reinforcement in January.

The 31-year-old landed on the club’s shortlist last summer. However, the deal never materialized.

The Iranian eventually remained with the Portuguese for another campaign. But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, this should be his last term with the Dragao.

According to Tuttosport via FcInter1908, Taremi remains a concrete objective for Inter if they decide to bolster their attacking ranks.

Since the start of the season, Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez have established themselves as the main attacking partnership.

However, Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic have yet to prove their worth since making their respective returns to the club in the summer.

The two veterans have only featured for a combined 549 minutes since the start of the season. They only produced one goal and an assist between them.

So as the source tells it, the Chilean and Austrian have an important month ahead. If they fail to deliver the goods, Inter could launch a January onslaught for Taremi.

The Italian giants would be looking to sign the Iran international for a relatively low fee due to his expiring contract.

Nevertheless, Porto manager Sergio Conceicao still considers Taremi a regular starter in his tactical jigsaw. Therefore, the Portuguese manager would loathe losing the services of his main striker in the middle of the campaign.

The Turin newspaper claims Taremi would cost Inter’s coffers a figure between 10 and 15 million euros.

It remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri management would be willing to splash this figure for a player who will become a free agent six months later.
