Former Inter Milan and Juventus midfielder Hernanes discusses the upcoming Derby d’Italia clash having experienced this fixture at both ends.

The Brazilian spent his peak years in Italian football. His most successful stint remains the one at Lazio between 2010 and 2014.

“The Prophet” then spent 18 months at Inter Milan before making a surprising switch to Juventus in the summer of 2015.

The two arch-rivals will collide this Sunday at the Allianz Stadium with only two points separating them in the Serie A standings.

The midfielder feels that the Nerazzurri is the stronger team overall. Yet, he believes the odds will be equal this weekend.

“Difficult to say who’s the favorite. Inter have been the more solid team for three years now. But The Bianconeri have recovered well. They are always dangerous at their Stadium,” notes Hernanes in his interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews.

“Inter are further ahead in general, but on Sunday, they start on equal terms.”

Hernanes admits that he was hoping to spend the rest of his playing days at Inter. However, the team was undergoing a tumultuous period which didn’t help his case.

“They were both very good experiences. When I went to Inter, I said to myself I was going to a top European club.

Hernanes Reveals The Ambitions He Had When He Arrived At Inter Milan

“I would have liked to stay there until the end of my career and try to win the Champions League,

“Nevertheless, it was a transition period. The club was in a restructuring phase after the departure of Moratti and the arrival of Thohir.

“I was unable to achieve my objectives. Then, Juve arrived, I didn’t think twice about it because I wanted to play in the Champions League.

“Inter and Juve are among the ten best teams in the world, it was wonderful to wear those shirts and celebrate my goals with somersaults.”

“With two such strong teams, I say it will end in a 1-1 draw. For Inter, one between Thuram or Lautaro will score.” predicts the former Brazil international.
