Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is aiming to be fit for Sunday evening’s Serie A match away to Napoli.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Bastoni missed out on yesterday evening’s Serie A match against Juventus.

The 24-year-old was a big miss for Inter.

Bastoni had picked up a calf injury during the international break. He suffered the injury during training with the Italian national team.

Therefore, Bastoni played no part in Italy’s EURO 2024 qualifying matches against North Macedonia or Ukraine. The Azzurri secured their spot at the Euros next summer.

Inter secured a 1-1 draw against Juventus yesterday evening in Bastoni’s absence.

Francesco Acerbi was the player who shifted out to play on the left side of the back three, Bastoni’s usual position.

And on Wednesday, Bastoni will certainly be out for Inter’s Champions League group stage match away to Benfica.

This will see Inter’s defensive depth further put to the test.

But a return may not be too far on the horizon for Bastoni.

Inter Defender Alessandro Bastoni Aiming To Be Fit To Face Napoli

Inter face yet another tough away test in Serie A next weekend.

The Nerazzurri travel to Campania to play defending Italian champions Napoli.

It will be a match with big implications for Inter’s title tile.

And naturally, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have his key players available to him for the match.

So there could be some good news for the coach in that regard.

Bastoni may be fit to at least be part of the squad for the trip to Naples.

There would still, of course, be questions about the 24-year-old’s match-fitness.

Whether Bastoni would be fit enough to start or just make the bench would be in question.

But having the Italian international available at all would certainly be a boost for Inzaghi.
