Legendary former Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti believes that Inter Milan can be confident in both Serie A and the Champions League.

Moratti spoke to Italian broadcaster Radio Anch’Io Lo Spot, via FCInterNews.

Inter are still very much fighting on multiple fronts.

The Nerazzurri still have the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana to come in the next few weeks.

But already the team have planted their flag both domestically in Europe.

In Serie A, Inter played out a gritty 1-1 draw against Juventus yesterday evening. That result seemed to confirm the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri as the two main contenders for the title.

For the Nerazzurri, the feeling is that finally getting their hands back on the Scudetto is a primary objective for the season.

The team have experienced disappointment in each of the past two seasons in the league. The failure to win the title has been regarded as a significant disappointment.

In Europe, on the other hand, Inter came within inches of glory last season.

Naturally, last campaign’s appearance in the Champions League final against Manchester City will give Inter confidence that they can make their mark in the competition once again this season.

Moratti: Inter Can Aim For Glory In Both Serie A & Champions League

In the view of former Inter President Moratti, there is cause for Inter to be confident.

“Inter’s strong point is that they had a positive season last time around,” he said. “Having reached the Champions League final.”

The former President noted that “They play with confidence. Security.”

“They have experienced players,” he noted of this Nerazzurri side.

“They seem stronger to me. Juve are a team who are still growing. Inter have already made that growth.”

“It’s clear that the Champions League has a special allure,” he said about the question of Europe or the league.

“But I think that Inter can aim for glory in both.”

As far as Inter’s group stage, in which the team have already qualified for the knockouts but are still fighting for top spot, Moratti said “Thanks to the players for getting through to the next round.”

“Benfica don’t seem very strong this season,” he continued. “So we have to try and win there.”

“But maybe it’s also true that when you’ve already secured your main objective, you will focus more on the league,” Moratti observed.

“Particularly with Napoli away, which will be very important.”
