Young Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck admits the atmosphere in the locker room was unsettling during halftime against Benfica.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi took advantage of the early qualification to the Champions League Round of 16 to field a second-string line-up.
The German starlet was amongst the players who earned a rare starting opportunity.
This was only his second start since joining the club in the summer.
However, the birthday boy’s evening started terribly, with Benfica scoring three goals through Joao Mario in the first half.
Nevertheless, the Italian giants found their composure after the break and pulled off a memorable comeback.
Marko Arnautovic, Davide Frattesi and Alexis Sanchez each scored a goal to draw Inter back on level terms.
The Beneamata almost won it in the end but Nicolo Barella saw his shot crash against the post.
Inter Milan Defender Yann Bisseck Describes The Halftime Atmosphere As “Noisy” Vs Benfica
Since yesterday, fans and pundits alike have been wondering what went on during the halftime break, and Bisseck has now admitted that things went a bit rowdy.
“I can’t explain what happened in the first half. I don’t know why these things happen at times, but we have to accept them,” said the German in his post-match interview with Mediaset Infinity via FcInterNews.
“Now we have to fix the mistakes, but we reacted well and we could have even won it.”
“When things go badly and you’re 3-0 down at a tough stadium, it’s easy to say ‘it’s not our day, we lost’.
“However, the dressing room was a bit noisy at half-time. And this is how it should be. We played well in the second half”.
“We want to win every match, against Real Sociedad it will be like a final. But we are a strong team at our stadium.”
