Inter Milan were offered the services of Luca Caldirola whose contract with Monza expires at the end of the season.
The Nerazzurri have been repeatedly poaching free agents on the market since the arrival of CEO Beppe Marotta in 2018.
Therefore, FcInterNews claims that Caldirola has been proposed to the Serie A giants.
The 32-year-old started his career as an Inter youth product. But after struggling to find space at Appiano Gentile, he moved to Cesena in 2012.
The defender then embarked on a six-year adventure in Germany between 2013 and 2019, playing for Werder Bremer, before joining Benevento.
The veteran has been at Monza since 2021, but his contract with the club is expiring at the end of the season.
As a youth product of the club, Caldirola would give Inter a numerical advantage when registering their UEFA squad.
Nevertheless, the source believes that the Nerazzurri have decided to snob the opportunity to sign the Italian defender.
The Serie A giants prefer to snatch the services of 23-year-old Lille defender Tiago Djalo. The Portuguese will also become a free agent in the summer.
The report expects the management to send Yann Bisseck on loan next season if they manage to add Djalo to their ranks.
Inter Milan Rejected The Opportunity To Sign Monza Defender Luca Caldirola
As for Caldirola, the source believes he has a high chance of signing a renewal with Monza where he’s well-appreciated.
The Italian defender has been a stalwart at the back for Raffaele Palladino’s side.
He famously scored the winner against Inter when the two sides met at the Giuseppe Meazza last April.
