Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij will be out for around three weeks with their respective injuries.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Earlier today, Inter confirmed that both Dumfries and de Vrij had undergone medical tests today.

And the results of these tests were clear regarding both players.

Both have suffered serious injuries during Sunday’s Serie A match against Napoli, and not just minor musclular fatigue or cramp.

For former PSV wingback Dumfries, it is a strain to the thigh flexor muscles in his left leg.

And for de Vrij, the problem is a strain to the adductor muscles in his left left.

Based on the restults of today’s tests, it is certain that both of the Dutch duo will be on the sidelines for some amount of time. Certainly, Saturday’s match against Udinese would be out of the question for both.

And Sky has shed further light on the seriousness of the pair’s injuries.

Dumfries & De Vrij Out For Around Three Weeks – Targeting Return Vs Genoa

According to Sky, both Dumfries and de Vrij will be out for approximately twenty days, or three weeks.

That will mean missing not just Saturday’s match against Udinese.

There will be matches against Real Sociedad in the Champions League, Bologna in the Coppa Italia, and Lazio and Lecce in the league also on the way.

And according to Sky, it looks as though both of Dumfries and de Vrij will miss all of those matches.

This is not welcome news for Inter, putting it mildly.

The Nerazzurri have already been in the midst of something of an injury crisis recently.

Alessandro Bastoni will be back on Saturday. But there will be questions about the fitness of the 24-year-old as he returns from a calf problem.

Then former Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard still has a way to go before he can return.

Pavard should be back sometime later this month.

And Juan Cuadrado, the main backup for Dumfries, has had persistent tendon problems all season that have created doubts regarding his fitness.

That leaves Francesco Acerbi and Yann Bisseck as currently fully fit defenders. And then Matteo Darmian is capable of covering at both centre-back and wingback.

Meanwhile, Carlos Augusto played in the back three on Sunday after de Vrij picked up his injury.

And then Federico Dimarco has also shown himself to be capable of deputizing in defense.
