The venue for the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana tournament will be moved to Riyadh from Jeddah within Saudi Arabia.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

The Supercoppa Italiana will take place in just a few weeks.

But there is still some uncertainty about what exactly the venue for the tournament’s matches will be.

For some time, it had seemed that the Saudi city of Jeddah would host the matches in the tournament.

But according to FCIN, it will instead be Riyadh.

The reason for this concerns the agreement that the Saudi organizers have with the Lega Serie A to host the tournament.

Namely. the agreement stipulates that the Saudi organizers will host the next six editions of the tournament.

And two of those will take place in Riyadh, two in Jeddah, and two outside of Saudi Arabia, in the city of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Supercoppa Italiana To Be Held In Riyadh Instead Of Jeddah

Given the above-mentioned format, part of the choice of venue for this edition of the tournament must take into consideration future editions.

Therefore, if Riyadh for example hosts this edition, then it can only host one future edition.

And that, according to FCIN, has been part of the thinking behind the move to Riyadh.

Inter will be one of the four teams participating in this season’s edition of the Supercoppa Italiana.

They will be playing in it along with Lazio, Napoli, and Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri have won the trophy in each of the past two seasons.

But in the past two editions, Inter have won the Supercoppa by playing in a one-off match.

Two seasons ago, the Nerazzurri beat Juventus with a dramatic last-gasp winner from Alexis Sanchez in extra time.

That match was played at the San Siro in Italy.

And last season, in Riyadh, Inter beat city rivals AC Milan 3-0 to get their hands on the trophy for the second season in a row.

The Supercoppa will be a four-team mini-tournament this season rather than a one-off match.
