Inter Milan are aiming to have defenders Alessandro Bastoni, Benjamin Pavard, and Stefan de Vrij, and wingback Denzel Dumfries back in the next three weeks.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the timeline for the quartet’s return.

At the moment, Inter’s defense is looking thin on the ground.

This is because of a barrage of injuries that have left Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi having to consider some unorthodox solutions in the backline.

But over the next three or so weeks, that should change.

Already starting with tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Udinese, Inter’s defensive injury crisis will begin the process of easing up.

When Inter Expect Bastoni, Pavard, De Vrij & Dumfries Back

The first player to return will be Bastoni.

The 24-year-old Italian international is already back in training. Therefore, Bastoni will already be in the squad for tomorrow’s match against Udinese barring any major surprises.

Bastoni won’t likely start tomorrow’s match.

But with matches against Real Sociedad and Lazio also on the way, the Italian can make his contribution.

The match against the Biancocelesti could be the target for former Bayern Munich defender Pavard to return.

According to the Corriere, Pavard’s recovery has been a fairly speedy one.

The Frenchman has been able to return to running, so a return to training at full intensity should be on the horizon.

The club’s medical staff have seen the response of Pavard’s knee throughout the recovery process as positive.

So if Pavard is not able to play against Lazio, he can definitely target upcoming matches against Bologna or Lecce as possible return dates.

Lastly there is Dutch duo de Vrij and Dumfries.

Both of the pair picked up muscle problems during Inter’s win over Napoli last weekend.

It is still too early to say with any certainty when de Vrij and Dumfries will be able to recover.

For that, subsequent medical tests in the coming days will be necessary.

But the signs are likely pointing towards a return against Genoa on December 29 for both.
