Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team responded the way that great teams do with their 4-0 thrashing of Udinese.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He also made clear that he would not consider using midfielder Davide Frattesi at wingback.

Inter regained their lead at the top of the Serie A table this evening.

And they did so in some style.

Three goals in the space of less than ten minutes from the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Federico Dimarco, and Marcus Thuram saw the Nerazzurri go in with a healthy advantage at halftime against an Udinese team who are battling relegation.

Then, in the second half, captain Lautaro Martinez wrapped up the win.

Inter had to answer Juventus, who had gone temporarily top of the table with their win over Napoli yesterday.

And that is precisely what Inzaghi’s team did on the pitch.

Inzaghi Beaming At Inter Response Vs Udinese

The coach said that in terms of the title race with Juventus, Inter “Responded the way that great teams do.”

“We played an excellent match,” the coach continued.

“We have to concentrate on ourselves,” he stressed. “What happens elsewhere should only interest us relatively.”

“We’re used to playing after our rivals, and also sometimes before them,” Inzaghi noted.

“We have to focus on ourselves.”

Davide Frattesi Not An Option At Wingback

And Inzaghi also spoke about midfielder Frattesi.

There had been some reports that the former Sassuolo midfielder could even fill in at wingback in this match, due to the injury to Denzel Dumfries.

“I was in doubt as to whether or not to start him,” Inzaghi said of Frattesi.

“But for considering what we’ll need on Tuesday, I told him he should remain calm.”

“He works very well in training,” Inzaghi said of the 24-year-old.

“We’re very happy with him. But he has Barella and Mkhitaryan ahead of him as well.”

“He works every day to carve out a place for himself in the team,” Inzaghi noted. “He’s scored important goals, and must continue like this.”

“In the end I opted for other players who have worked well in training,” the coach explained on why he didn’t use Frattesi against Udinese. “I’ll keep him at his best for Tuesday.”

Regarding whether Frattesi could play at right-wingback, Inzaghi said “No. He’s not an option there.”

“The options are Dumfries and Cuadrado,” he noted. “Two excellent players.”

“The first has an injury. The other is gritting his teeth but didn’t have the ninety minutes in his legs.”

“Luckily for me I also have a player like Darmian for the position as well.”
